The Dad Fund launched its internship program around the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The Dad Fund placed 35 international interns and 215 local interns on various world cup related projects.

 

The international interns came from the United States of America, Italy, Ghana, France and Sweden and were placed in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.

 

Internship and Cultural Program

 

By doing your internship in South Africa through us, you will be helping us put one underprivileged students through a year of schooling.


The internship and cultural experience in South Africa will consist of a three or six month program. We usually work within the following months.

•    January, February, March
•    May, June and July
•    June, July, August
•    September, October, November

 

The program will consist of the following:

•    At least three days a week, spent in your requested field
•    Two a days a week, spent working on community projects
•    One cultural excursion per week
•    Two free days to do as you wish

 

Internship areas include:
Marketing, Events Management, Public Relations, Design, Sports Management, Social Work, Hospitality, Finance, Human Resources, Logistics, Branding and much more.

 

Accommodation:
All six interns will be placed in a large beautiful shared home in Gordon’s Bay; a picturesque village nestled at the foot of the Hottentots Holland Mountains.

House Features:

•    Large entertainment area
•    Pool
•    Wi-Fi Internet access
•    A walk away from the beach
•    Beautiful hiking paths
•    Close to Stellenbosch, a student village (University of Stellenbosch)
•    Large showers and spa bath


Meals:
The Dad Fund will supply at least two meals a day

 

Transport:
The Dad Fund will supply transport to all work, community and cultural destinations.

 

Should you wish to go out on your own, we can try to assist with transport but usually you will be responsible for covering your own transport.

 

Travel & Sight Seeing:
The Dad Fund will take interns on a weekly excursion. Should the interns want to travel around South Africa on weekends/off days, they are more than welcome to do so. We can assist with travel advice.

 

Requirements:

•    18 years old and up
•    Must have a passport that is at least valid for another six months from date of entry

 

Cost:

The total cost for the three month program is $2750 and includes:

•    Airport Pick Up and Drop Off
•    Orientation Pack
•    Cell phone sim card
•    Accommodation
•    Transport to work, projects and Dad Fund specific excursions
•    At least 2 meals a day
•    6 main tourist attractions
•    Wi Fi Internet access
•    24 hour access to your in country coordinator

Please note that 70% of your cost goes towards your living expenses, 20% goes towards putting an underprivileged South African student through school and 10% comes straight back to the Dad Fund to be used on other community projects.

 

Cost Excludes:

•    Flights
•    Transport for your own personal excursions
•    Personal expenses

•    Upon your arrival, you will need to pay the second 50%
